Director Shay Moore has been teaching and performing bellydance in Seattle and around the nation for over ten years. She was the first instructor to receive dual teaching certifications in both the Gypsy Caravan and ATS® formats, which combined with her background in cabaret and folkloric styles, allowed her to develop a signature blended style of tribal fusion which she continues to build upon today. She has directed multiple nationally acclaimed performance troupes, and teaches popular weekly classes in the Seattle area. Shay has had the honor of being hosted as a featured instructor and performer at some of the largest tribal bellydance festivals in the world, including Tribal Fest, Tribal Revolution,Tribal Quest Northwest, and 3rd Coast Tribal. In 2007, her work was internationally recognized when Shay was nominated Instructor of the Year in the Zaghareet Magazine people’s choice awards, alongside Carolena Nericcio.

Sherrilyn’s lengthy history of dance training and performance began with jazz, tap, and modern. Then she added fusion bellydance to the mix, melding her background in other dance styles with her newer training in American, Egyptian, and Turkish bellydance technique. This was followed by training in west African and hip-hop, all while maintaining her interest in jazz, tap, modern, and bellydance.
Now Sherrilyn is a true fusion dancer, performing and teaching a mix of bellydance, tap, jazz, modern, west African, and hip-hop. In additional to solo and duet work with Krista Sassani, she is a Core Facilitation Team member in PURE Philadelphia.

My obsession with belly dance began at seven years old when I was taken to a Moroccan restaurant and adoringly glared at the “sparkly” dancer. I was gifted with a private lesson and the love affair with the dance genre was born. I then made my own costumes, putting on shows for family, and promised myself I would someday become a belly dancer. After only several classes with a belly dance instructor while in college, I was asked to train professionally. After studying traditional styles of the Middle East, I have now adapted my own personal style to reflect the tradition juxtaposed with many years of formal Western dance training. I teach many classes within the Philadelphia area and perform as much as possible. Enjoy my unique fusion of belly dance!
